Business Development Director

RapidSOS is hiring!  Join a rapidly growing advanced emergency technology start-up in solving one of the greatest challenges of our generation:

  • Media/Awards: Won most major start-up awards (including Start-Up of the Year by CTA/CES & Top Innovation of 2015 by MIT) and featured across national media (NYT, Fox, Newsweek, Time, TechCrunch, Fortune, etc.)
  • Business model / markets: $60B is spent annually on third party call centers to speak data to 911 (OnStar, home security, medical alert) – RapidSOS eliminates the need for these call centers, providing faster, more effective service with no COGS
  • Commercialization: 39 signed partners and over 250 companies in its funnel; we are working with the largest tech and telecom companies globally and groups like the White House Data Driven Justice Initiative to deploy the technology to every American;
  • Team: MIT, HBS, Stanford, Wharton, Google, Oracle, Microsoft, Argonne & Oak Ridge National Labs, Bell Labs, venture capital, over 40 tech start-ups
  • Investors: $14M raised from preeminent global investors including several top VCs, the world’s largest public safety company, two former FCC Chairmen, and four billionaire technologists/investors

What this role is about:Lead business development for a top start-up focused on an enormous global challenge. You will independently and in close collaboration with our team develop and execute on key business partnerships with some of the largest and most prominent technology companies (IoT, wearables, mobile, shared economy), telecom, and insurance partners.

What you’ll do if chosen for this role                                                                                                  

  • Help lead our business development team and motivate team members to grow the business and over-achieve sales objectives
  • Manage team productivity and activity levels and mentor to success
  • Build new business channels and new strategic partnerships
  • Create and deliver compelling sales presentations via in-person meetings, conferences, phone and web using industry knowledge and market data to convey the RapidSOS value proposition
  • Achieve and maintain positive and effective client relationships
  • Design and deliver powerful capabilities and proposal presentations; create business opportunities through industry relationships and networks
  • Manage a full cycle process; from initiating first contact to signing an agreement

Requirements 

  • Highly self-motivated – This is a start-up and you will be part of a close-knit highly self-motivated team – we are looking for someone who shares our passion and is prepared to share our level of commitment
  • Comfort working with senior executives (we often get introduced to the C-suite of Fortune 100 potential partners)
  • Sales/BD or relevant experience (the role is a hybrid between sales and BD – ultimately you are selling the product but often through sophisticated partnership agreements).
  • Team oriented – you will be leading a small but growing team; ideal candidates will be independent and self-motivated (i.e. won’t require a big team of support) but will also be comfortable leading and building a team
  • Extraordinary attention to detail, relentless approach to accomplishing your goals
  • Experience with PowerPoint, Excel, and/or Google Docs
  • Public speaking experience a plus
  • Bachelors’ Degree required, MBA preferred
